FYI- To get rid of the annoying Chinese forum spam, click on the name of the poster, click ‘ignore’ then refresh the page.

    Hey Presto! No more spam!

I think it may be a little unfair to characterize the Chinese posts as "spam"....they may be posting important tips and such. Of course, since it's Chinese who could tell? At any rate, thanks for the tip...I can't read chinese.

Any idea why the Chinese are targeting a forum such as this? I'm sure there are bigger forums out there for them to hack

Totally no sense, however it is useless to 'ignore' them, it seems they create different accounts.

I suggest to add a captha for new posts and see if this prevent those idjts to spam us.

Simple. CTRL-C the text, open google translate, choose auto detect origin language, CTRL-V. It's an advertisement for fake university diploma / dimploma fraud.

It's 2019! "I don't know the language" is not an excuse anymore :p

I suggested a manual "new user" confirmation. This would mean that I would have to agree on every single member registrating but - as you know if you have read the important informations here
    https://lastdayonearthforum.com/threads/important-information-for-all-users-of-this-forum.13051/
our forum admin has disappeared, so I have no power whatsoever to implement something like that.

They don't select specific forums. The bots are programmed to search for ANY forum, override the security by copying the text of 5-10 old messages and posting them, and THEN start spamming the intended text.

Click on the name of the person posting. The ignore tag is halfway down on the left. For example if I select your name then click ‘ignore’ like this...hello? hello are you still there??

It's not practice, it's their common profession. Just like spam mail - if among 1.000.000.000 spam mails or spam forum entries they get a single interested person, it already paid off - because spam comes "free". And they don't care if it's a chinese forum or an international forum with chinese native speakers or ... or ... or ...
