1 iron axe per stack of oak logs.

oak red zone gives you 60 oak logs.
oak yellow zone gives you 30 oak logs.
oak event differs but you won't find more than 20-30 oak logs.

By oak bushes I assume you are referring to the oak event and it's permutations.

    1 Automatic rifle. Preferably AK-47.
1 stack of bandages or a couple of medikits. 5 to be safe.
(Above depends on if you get the raiders camp version)

    1 Iron Axe.
    Tactical set full durability.
    1 Iron pipe / machete / saber.

For other oak zones, depends on how many runs you intend.

With the loss of the northern AI base I have started (credit to Hobbes) using my corpse as a storage dump. Nowadays I only do red zone x4 runs.

My equipment and items varies but 14+ iron axes (rather, the resources needed to craft them) are standard (Red zone takes 3+ axes per clearance). 1-2 stacks of food. Extra set of tactical gear. 1 stack of water (deposited in corpse storage for future runs), 3-4 melee 30+DMG and a gun.

If you have the find rare items dog trait, activate it. More often than not you will find weapons in the boxes plus those from AI's.

From thereafter the rest is item management with your corpse as storage.

Hope that gives you some insights for your planning.

One iron hatchet has 75 durability and it takes 8 strokes to take down 1 oak tree so if you do the math you will find that its best to carry iron hatchets in multiples of 3 so 3-6-9 etc...

Meaning you can cut down 28 oak trees with 3 hatches. Your average yellow zone has ~15 oak trees and red has ~30 oak trees. So my usual yellow red yellow oak farming trip has ~60 oak trees thus I bring 6 iron hatchets.

    As for actual gear:
lvl3 armour or better for the cold (lvl 1-2 you freeze in the night)
    1 machete for spitters
1 scull crusher in case I really need to kill TA
1 cheap weapon to farm meat and fur like hockey stick or cleaver
    1 stack of food
    6-8 cups of tea
1 glock for VSS guy or diseased wolves

Actually you need 3 and a bit of a 4th axe for a red zone and 1 and a bit of your 2nd axe at yellow. It's good to plan several goes to maximise your energy cost going up north. Hence many references to using your corpse as a storage dump @ the north watchtower. There are some great vids on how to maximize your runs.

I dont get every single oak tree in the zones as some are heavily defended and not worth the armour durability and weapon cost at least for me.

So 6 hatchets more often then not get the job done for my yellow/red/yellow farming trip.

The upgraded hobo set aka raiders armor (tier 4) is a good choice, if you have the resources to upgrade it. I used to save red hobo sets (still do!) and upgrade them getting back a higher tier full durability set. If memory serves, upgraded sets (tier 2 and 4) can take 180 hits compared to 120 hits (? or was it 150?) of other sets of armor.
