I haven’t done anything with mods since they added the ability to save the configuration that you want. Last night I traded in some at the specialist and got one that I didn’t have, a blue machete, bone handle. I only have gray machete mods so I go to build it and find it’s below my hunter handle on the list and it seemed to be much worse overall. Am I missing something or is this another case of a common mod being better then a rare one?

Yea I think I had the same thing. I was deciding between which two to build and I’m like the hunter is better but the others rarer and all. I wondered and still do about mods of what I’m missing when the “lesser” is far better.

the mods have 'uses' but some common I found better than the rare ones. Each mod has a place where it is better than others but it's really situational. Bone handle has a much higher crit ability at the cost of lower damage and much lower durability. I agree that's not worth it. Personally on the Machete I use the carbon handle over the hunter handle, it has better durability and I don't have a need for the extra damage the Hunters has. It adds 1 damage making it 31 (barring the blade mod) which doesn't do much for killing ability.

For example on the pipes: I have the Bone handle and saw hatchet mods, really don't have many others but I don't need them. The bone handle is my main mod for it, I don't run the hatchet that often. That's because with the Bone Handle alone I get 27 damage which is all I need to one shot Z's in the resource area's. If I add the hatchet to it I lose durability but I get 30 damage. That's nice for harder area's but totally unneeded if I'm just trying to kill an 80 hp Z.

Negative, bone handle for machete is waaay better than hunter handle. You do regular 36 damage and 68 crit. You can potentially two hit 100hp zombies at alfa. You have a really high crit chance and you only lose 4 hits. Yes 4 hits only. Compare that to hunter handle which deals 34 damage and 64 crit? Now you have 2 hp zombie and you have to use another hit of durability.

Thanks hobbes, I didn’t know you only lose 4 hits in durability. From looking at the bar in the workbench it looked like you lost over half durability

Yes I thought so too but when I actually tested it, it was different. Here are the full stats, assuming you have ripper blade:
Hunter Handle: 81 hits, total damage without crits, 2754
Bone Handle: 76 hits, total damage without crits, 2736

Just based on the above, it's a no brainer since bone handle has a way higher crit chance. However, it also has higher crit damage and damage base, allowing you to two hit 100 hp zombies. The hunter handle will still need 3 hits, even with one crit.

    the more you know :D

That's what I thought too ... I never equipped my AK47 without the rifle butt because I didn't see the point in a small damage increase with losing half the durability

Is there anywhere that has a list of all available weapon mods? Seen some videos that say not all are in the game yet like some of the very rare purple mods or are all the ones that show up for each weapon at the work hence available. Thanks

There’s some YouTube videos that show the best mods. Best to that person. There’s some personal leeway. Some everyone mostly agree on. I basically got a bunch of mods and didn’t really start nodding till I could try and get a grasp on it. Most games I don’t care about mods and skins. Mods are pretty important in this game though.

And sometimes the mod depends on the situation.

last-day-on-earth-survival.fandom.com all info there is posted by players so sometimes it’s questionable but still gives you a good start. Plus they have a page with all month of bunker codes if you leave home without it

Just had a look at that wiki. Says 8 of the 23 extremely rare mods are still not in the game. Doesn’t say which ones though. Anyone know? By all accounts, all the others are available.

If I read it right, said 15 outta 23 active skill mods, 8 unavailable. I’m not sure if that’s still accurate, someone with more knowledge will have to weigh in on that but honestly it’s not something you really need to worry about that much at this point. I consider myself a high end, end game player and I have zero active skill mods.
